The “Filipek” bar is another of the eateries that operated at Stawowa Street. The tenement at number 9, where it was located, was built in the early years of the 20th century and was owned by the merchant Georg Lippmann. There were flour and hat warehouses, and the Borkowski brothers ran an electrical engineering workshop there. In the 1970s, two bars were located on the ground floor: Filipek and Jagoda.
The Filipek neon was one of those that stayed in the memory of the citizens of Katowice for a long time. Despite its unsophisticated art form, it stood out from the rest. This was decided by a distinctive figure who jumped up rhythmically lifting his bowler hat.
